Cultivating faith.

The Guide does everything from embarking on epic adventures to engaging in deep intellectually stimulatingly conversations but in it’s roots these things are secondary to developing a deep, personal walk with Christ.

Faith Class

The Guide team gathers weekly for a structured time to wrestle through big faith questions. The curriculum is centered around three questions: Who am I? Who is God? What do I do with what I believe? Some weeks provide space to take an intellectual approach to theological topics while other weeks give opportunities to engage with God through practical application. Faith class is foundational to the Guide experience.

Faith Integration

While not all components of the Guide Program are explicitly Bible study time, faith is integrated into all we do. Life with Christ changes everything from how we work with others in the backcountry to the way we choose to spend our free time. Guide is a time where students have this modeled for them as they are trained to live out their faith.

2:1

2:1 time is bi-weekly and is a time to unpack life, wrestle though big questions, connect deeply, and have fun. In a 2:1, students meet with the Guide director and another student, while making the time unique to their pairing. From week to week, change things up by playing games or use the time to work through next steps in life. 2:1 time is a key component in the Guide community and in students’ growth.

Service

Throughout the year, Guide students serve the local community through their involvement with the local youth center and Released Time program. They mentor local children and youth by teaching, playing, and being present. Students also put their faith into action by serving in many of the Camp Hebron programs such as our winter youth retreats and Shalom retreat. Through contributing to the local community and camp programs, Guide students put all they learn into practice as they explore what it means to follow Christ.
